MACHINE AND PROCESS DEVELOPMENT

The Product Development Technology Station (PDTS) converts innovative ideas into products and takes ownership of the whole process of machine development. The machines developed ranges from the mechanical to the agricultural industry.

The production involves collaboration with other departments in the station like Product Development, Electronic Development and CNC Machining.

The process of machine development involves doing research and creating concepts from the original idea of a client, for example helping a farmer manufacture a tomato sorter to improve the classification practices of tomatoes.

These concepts are then used to create actual designs of the machine using Solidworks, with which simulations can be done of how the product will work. By using this design program, the PDTS is able to prevent manufacturing failures and therefore design modifications can be made in advance.

Once the design is finalized, the manufacturing process starts. This involves conventional manufacturing processes and testing the product.
